Applications are welcomed from Indian nationals belonging to reserved classifications (SC, job ST, OBC, job EWS and PwD (VH, OH, HH)) under special recruitment drive for the post of Assistant Professor in the Departments of Aerospace Engineering, Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Cognitive Science, Computer Technology and Engineering, Design, Earth Sciences, Economic Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management Sciences, job Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Space, Planetary & Astronomical Sciences & Engineering (SPASE), Sustainable Energy Engineering, and Kotak School of Sustainability.

Several Departments also get involved in the mentor and research activities of interdisciplinary post-graduate programs in the institute in Photonics Science and Engineering and Materials Science Program. Appointments for these programs are made in the appropriate departments among those listed above.

Minimum Qualification (Assistant Professor): Ph.D. with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc) at the preceding degree in the proper branch, with an excellent academic record in all preceding degrees. For a fresh Ph.D, the position will be on contract basis for the very first 3 years, and can be regularized later on. For those with three or more years of post-PhD teaching/research/industrial experience, regular consultation can be made.

The Institute follows reservation in direct recruitment according to the arrangements of the Central Educational Institutes (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act, 2019. The existing unique drive advertisement is to fill 56 backlog jobs in reserved classifications till 31st December 2024.

Other information:

1. The pay carries all other allowances as admissible to a Central Civil servant stationed at Kanpur.

2. The benefits, such as LTC, medical re-imbursement, transportation allowance, children education allowance, contribution towards New Pension System (NPS), re-imbursement of telephone expenses, book grants, HRA (if housing not supplied), research study initiation grant (as much as Rs 25 lakhs with the arrangement to look for a supplemental grant) and financial backing towards national and international conferences shall be permitted as per the Institute norms.

3. From its internal resources, the Institute provides an extra top-up wage of Rs 25,000/- each month for the first three years of service to the freshly joined professor. After 3 years of service, the professor(s) are eligible for factor job to consider for Young Faculty Fellowship (open for faculty of age upto 40 years) supplying a top-up salary of Rs.15,000/- monthly for three years, and/or Faculty Chair positions supplying a top-up wage of Rs 25,000/- monthly for 3 years. Both the positions are provided based on performance.

4. Traveling allowance for joining: The Institute will reimburse global travel expenses for the newly joined faculty member and reliant relative to the maximum limitation of Rs. 1,50,000. Domestic travel repayment will be as per government rules.

5. The Institute makes every effort to offer real estate to all faculty members. The houses are equipped with totally free high-speed web.

6. Mere eligibility will not entitle a candidate for being called for interview.

7. Applicants who do not fulfil the minimum experience requirements might be provided an appointment on agreement. The requirements of minimum certification and/or experience may be relaxed when it comes to candidates with impressive qualifications.

8. The Institute follows the booking in direct recruitment as per the arrangements of the Central Educational Institutes (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act, job 2019. The candidates are needed to submit the Caste/ Category/ Disabilities Certificate provided by the Competent Authority in the format recommended by the Government of India for this function. The Institute follows the in the case of SC/ST, OBC & PwD.

11. Applicants required and appearing in interview will be paid to and fro economy air fare/train fare by the shortest route (within India) and taxi fare from Lucknow airport to IITK and back. Please note that the quantity of fare shall be remitted through electronic transfer by our Accounts Section after processing the claim. Local hospitality will be looked after by the Institute.

12. Applicants who are used in Government or Semi-Government Organizations will be required to produce a “NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE” from their company at the time of the interview.
